Overview of the 2021 Virtual Season & Upcoming Training Opportunities

State tournament

As many of us are starting to get notifications of our districts taking precautionary measures to insure the safety of our students and staff, sadly, it is the decision of the Oak Creek School District and the MLFA Executive Board that the 2020 State Tournament is canceled. Due to the unknown length of our school closures, there are no talks of postponing but just canceling the meet altogether.
More details will be coming your way as the executive board communicates and navigates this situation.
We’re still having our Spring Association Meeting where we will have elections for president-elect and treasurer. We’re also in need of a new t-shirt coordinator.

Nature Hill Meet Cancelled

Greetings Forensics Teams,

With all of the schools canceling, we no longer have enough adults to host the NHI forensics meet. We are canceling at this time. We will be returning checks during the next week. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this uncharted time.

Nature Hill Meet

As of 5:14 Thursday evening, the Oconomowoc School District is still holding all after school events. The Nature Hill Forensics meet is still on. Please notify Melissa Krahn if your school chooses to not participate.

Update

Hello MLFA coaches. I just wanted to let everyone know that we are aware of the news from Madison and we are all waiting to hear from our districts on the next course of action. I found out that there are a number of area superintendents that are meeting this afternoon and will be issuing a statement regarding the safety of our schools and activities. As news surfaces from our schools, we will be discussing the future plans for the MLFA 2020 season. We will post here on FB as well as on the MLFA Website.

Slinger Meet is Canceled

Slinger Middle School has also canceled our meet, which was to take place tomorrow. All schools have been notified. Good luck to all of you for the remainder of the season.

Cudahy Meet Canceled

As a result of the statements made by Gov. Evers today in Madison and the recommendations by the State Department of Health Services related to public gatherings, the School District of Cudahy has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Cudahy Middle School Forensic meet that was to be held Saturday, March 14, 2020.

The School District of Cudahy and the Middle Level Forensic Organization is always looking to safeguard the safety and health of our students, staff, parents, and families that engage each year in our forensic meets.

This decision was not made lightly or without careful consideration.   It is never an easy decision to cancel a meet that could lead to students qualifying for State. All parties made this important decision to ensure that we are doing everything to prevent the spread of illnesses. The CMS Forensic team members and parents appreciate your support and participation each year at our meet and look forward to seeing you at future meets.

Fall Workshop & Business Meeting!

It’s hard to believe, but the 2019-2020 Forensics season is rapidly approaching and this Saturday, October 5th is the big day to kick off another wonderful season! Linked here is the full schedule of events for our event. ALL MLFA coaches are welcomed to attend this event.
Business Meeting Minutes
The Fall MLFA workshop and business meeting will take place at Golda Meir School, 227 W. Pleasant, Milwaukee, WI 53212.  The meeting from 8:00 AM to Noon will begin in the library. Parking is on the street (Pleasant, MLK, or Galena Street) or in the MPS parking lot up the hill at Vel Phillips and Galena. Unfortunately, we do not have access to parking directly in front of the main entrance on Pleasant.
Nikki Prelesnik from Oak Creek East MS, our new association president, will be our facilitator for the meeting. Linked here is the agenda for the business meeting portion of our event.
Tyne Turner, your new president-elect, has several breakout sessions for all of you to enjoy before we start our general business meeting. The breakout session options are available at this link.
We are in need of new tournaments, so if you are interested in hosting a tournament, please let our past-president Pam Cullen know, either via email (cullenp@cudahysd.org) or on Saturday at the meeting.

We had some committee heads change over the summer and we are excited to welcome these new leaders from the organization. Thank you so much to Dean Chyla who is heading up our Mentoring Committee and Katie Botsford for taking charge of the Policy and Procedures Committee!

PD Sessions will be advertised as choices offered 3 times in a row, however MPS new Athletic Director or representative will only be there for 1 session TBA.
