Because so many people are working meets, everyone is trying to keep the game moving, and everyone is a volunteer; mistakes will absolutely happen. If there is a math error that affects your student’s score, simply make the math correction(s) as the coach, log their scores toward State internally, and if a different color ribbon is warranted, simply ask the meet host and they will be happy to provide it. Other than that, once the meet is over, it’s over. Let the meet host rest in peace. Truly, after the enormous effort involved in hosting the meet, we should do our best to thank them rather than complain to them.
Dear Meet Hosts,
There are written check-in instructions that should be used in training check-in volunteers under the Tournament Documents tab. Every host should be assigning an experienced check-in person or Infractions Head Coach to train the check in people using that document. That said, mistakes will inevitably happen.
If you receive a complaint, please allow the head coach to make whatever adjustments they need to with regard to math mistakes and supply them with a change of ribbon if needed at the next common meet you attend.
Also, I want to apologize to anyone receiving complaints after all the volunteer hours and hard work you put in to host for the organization, and thank you so much for your contributions. No one knows how difficult it is except those who also host. Without you, there would be no sport.
